Weekly Newsletter for October 31, 2011

Happy Halloween!  I hope your afternoon is filled with fun costumes and candy.  Here is what we are doing this week.
·        Today, we have a math homework sheet, but I allowed the students to begin working on it in light of the holiday.  Some of them finished the worksheet, so do not be confused when their planner says homework and they don’t have a worksheet. J
·        Please try to read with them tonight.  It’s always fun to curl up with a mystery book and read together.
·        I will be sending home a letter about our upcoming trip to CHOM.  The trip is scheduled for December, but it will be upon us before we know it.
·        Please continue to check your student’s behavior chart.  It is important for them to know that you are seeing their folder every night.  It also lets me know that you see how well they are doing, or if they need some extra help.

Weekly Newsletter for October 17-21, 2011

Hello, parents!  I hope you enjoyed your fall break last week!  As we move into fall, we have lots of exciting things planned.  Below are a few of them, as well as some reminders.
  • On Wednesday, Oct. 19th, TPS will be having a special Halloween snack.  The cost if $2 if you wish to participate.
  • Second great is going on a thrilling field trip to the Bobby Miller Center to watch the Raptor Trek performance.  Magnificent birds of prey will be showing off their feathers, as well as some impressive hunting skills.  This trip costs $5, and it is well worth the money!  We will be studying owls in science that week, and the Raptor Trek show will provide some invaluable learning moments for your student.
  • Report cards go home on Friday.  Please remember to sign and return the envelope.  If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
  • Friday is Career Day!  The second graders at TPS will have the opportunity to meet people within our community with various jobs and careers.  This is always a fun day.  If your child would like to dress up as their favorite career, that would be great.  But please no Halloween costumes.
  • I know this time of the year is so busy with extra curricular activities, but please make sure you are still reading with your child every night and checking their planner for homework.  Lately we have been having a problem with remembering to do and bring homework to school.  Please make sure you are helping your child succeed in this area.

Weekly Newsletter for October 3, 2011

Good afternoon!  This week is packed with fun events.  Below is some information regarding these awesome activities.
·       The students have earned a pajama party for their good choices at school.  We will be having the party on Wednesday, Oct. 5th.  Please allow your student to wear his or her favorite pair of pajamas, but no stuffed animals, as this will mostly be a normal school day.  They also run track on Wednesday, so remember another pair of shoes if they choose to wear slippers.
·       Our field trip to the aquarium will be this Thursday, Oct. 6th.  Please let me know if you have any other questions for me regarding the trip.  Parents who are going:  I am working on grouping the students who do not have parents attending the trip with you.  I will give you a list of your group when you arrive at school Thursday morning.
·       We have a PTO meeting tonight at 6:30.  There will be a special birthday surprise for Dr. Lamon, so please make plans to attend.  You don’t want to miss it! J
·       We are out of school on Friday for a teacher work day.  Please keep your student home.  This actually begins fall break (Oct. 10-11).  We will return to school on Wednesday, Oct. 12th.
If you have any questions for me, please do not hesitate to call me or email me.  Your student is a joy to teach, and I am looking forward to a great week!
